Gary Robinson Memorial Fund Provides Support for

Search and Rescue Snowbulance

(March 21, 2007) - The Yellowknife Community Foundation was pleased to participate in an official ceremony recognizing the arrival of a specialized piece of rescue equipment for the Yellowknife Search and Rescue Society today. Funding to purchase the Snowbulance was provided through the Foundation's Gary Robinson Memorial Fund. The Snowbulance is a fully enclosed rescue sled that will allow Search and Rescue volunteers to better care for and transport individuals in isolated and difficult to reach locations.

Yellowknife Search and Rescue President, Laurin Trudel said, “we are very pleased to be receiving the Snowbulance through the generosity of the Robinson Family who set up the Memorial Fund with the Yellowknife Community Foundation. We also want to recognize Canadian North Airlines for their generosity in shipping the Snowbulance from Winnipeg to Yellowknife and Force One, which in addition to arranging the unit's purchase and preparing it after its arrival in Yellowknife also made a financial contribution to the units cost”.

Foundation President, Tom Hall said “ The Yellowknife Community Foundation is pleased to be a part of improving search and rescue capability in the Yellowknife area by assisting with the purchase of specialized equipment such as the Snowbulance .” The Yellowknife Community Foundation was formed to provide residents (and former residents) with a means of supporting projects in our community for the enduring future. The Foundation is not singularly dedicated to any specific area of support. It embodies a simple concept - that people working together can make a difference.

The Gary Robinson Memorial Fund provides financial support to those individuals or charitable organizations involved in search and rescue/recovery or emergency response activities.
