supporter of the Yellowknife arts community through the Enough Talk Hurry Up and Do It Already Arts Scholarship. Two dedicated and enthusiastic École Sir John Franklin High School students, Hailey McLeod and Jeromy Deleff received the award this year.

Hailey McLeod thrives in the performing arts, having participated as an actor, singer, dancer, and choreographer in École Sir John Franklin High School drama productions of “Grease”, “Footloose”, “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”, “Too Darn Hot” and ‘”The Werewolf’s Curse” over the past four years, as well as two Bella Dance Academy productions of “The Nutcracker”.  In addition to performing and taking dance classes, Hailey’s reach and talents extend to leading movement classes for 2, 5 and 6-year-olds at Bella Dance Academy.

Feeding Hailey’s enthusiasm for dance to grow beyond her current repertoire of ballet, pointe, jazz and modern, she is pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Majoring in Dance from the University of Calgary.

Jeromy Deleff has found his life’s passion in film and video production.  What started off as an introduction to good camera skills in an École Sir John Franklin High School Media Studies program, has lead to independent study, exploration and experimentation in writing, filming, directing and editing short films, and recently representing the Northwest Territories at a national Skills Canada competition.

Learning by doing, Jeromy’s skills have grown with each project, having found an appreciation for what goes on behind the camera and a life goal to continue expanding his knowledge on all aspects of the film industry. Jeromy is pursuing the Film and Video Production program at SAIT in Calgary, where he is sure to thrive creatively.

Hailey McLeod and Jeromy Deleff each received a $1000 scholarship towards achieving their goals and dreams in the fine arts.
